Second public notice on the environmental impact assessment for Shaanxi Coal’s new 100-ton-scale pilot project / Author/Source: Date: 2021-02-26 Clicks: 4 Recently, the second public notice regarding public participation in the environmental impact assessment of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.’s new pilot project for developing a 100-ton-scale technology for producing olefins directly from syngas (STO) was issued. The pilot project for the development of a 100-ton-per-year process for direct synthesis of olefins from syngas (STO) by Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. is planned to be constructed on the northeast side of the coal-to-olefins plant owned by Pucheng Clean Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., within the Weibei Coal and Chemical Industrial Park. This is a pilot project aimed at building a 100-ton-per-year pilot facility for the direct synthesis of olefins from syngas; the facility will mainly consist of a raw gas pretreatment unit and a synthesis unit. The total investment for this project is 29.98 million yuan. The direct production of olefins from syngas is based on the Fischer-Tropsch to Olefins (FTO) reaction. Compared to the CTO process, FTO eliminates the intermediate methanol synthesis step, offering the advantages of a shorter process flow and lower energy consumption.
The pilot project for the development of synthetic gas-to-olefins (STO) process technology is worth attention.
