The successful completion of the renovation of the Guofu Furnace project and its operation on schedule have been a matter of concern for all employees of Yulin Chemical Company and Qianyuan Energy Chemical Company. At the beginning of this year, the progress of the project was delayed due to the impact of COVID-19. However, with the strong support and assistance from the leaders at all levels and various departments of Yulin Chemical Company, issues such as a shortage of funds for the project’s renovation, insufficient technical expertise, and a lack of personnel on site were resolved, thereby laying a solid foundation for the smooth advancement of the Guofu Furnace project’s renovation. The company adhered to the decision to pursue both epidemic prevention and project construction simultaneously, and the project resumed operations in March. From then on, the civil construction, installation, self-inspection and maintenance, as well as unit testing for the Guofu Furnace project officially commenced. During this period, the company established a leadership team for the renovation and pilot production of the Guofu Furnace project, held several special meetings to arrange and coordinate the progress of the project as well as the preparations for pilot production, and set planned deadlines for completing various tasks in order to accelerate the construction progress. At the critical stage of the project renovation, regular daily thematic meetings were held, along with weekly project review meetings or coordination sessions, to keep track of the progress of the construction and renovation work and to address specific issues as they arose. Through cold-state simulations and joint testing, it achieved the desired goals of these upgrades. In terms of production preparation, a series of plans for project modification and commissioning, along with safety and technical measures, were developed to ensure that all aspects of production remain under control. In terms of personnel support, the company focused its efforts at the grassroots level, mobilizing all its staff to ensure the successful trial production of the Guofu Furnace project. At the same time, to address issues such as the short duration since new employees joined the team and varying levels of overall competence, a training approach that combines theoretical knowledge instruction with hands-on guidance was adopted. This improved the professional skills of on-site managers and operators, ensuring that all personnel met the required standards for working on the project, thereby providing a talent foundation for its successful operation. After more than 150 days of effort, the successful first ignition of the Guofu Furnace project boosted morale and was highly encouraging, creating the conditions for continuous operation in the future. The timely commissioning of this project is just a glimpse of Qianyuan Energy Chemical Company’s efforts to revitalize its chemical projects. It is reported that the company will focus closely on its corporate reform and development, continuing with the work on the semi-coke project as well as the renovation and maintenance of the anthracite furnaces, with plans to start production in October this year.
