It not only fulfilled its production and sales targets ahead of schedule but also kept the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of pure methanol at 1,450 kilograms of standard coal, which is 50 kilograms less than the limit set for the coal-based methanol industry. This is the tangible result of Huayu Company’s focus on transformation. In Jincheng, Shanxi, the aerial pipeline of the Huayu Integrated Clean Coal Transportation Project – Asia’s longest aerial coal transportation corridor – lies like a blue giant across the 8.4-kilometer distance between Huayu Company and Sihe No. 2 Coal Mine, two coal enterprises. This fully enclosed aerial corridor, capable of transporting 1,000 tons per hour, delivers coal continuously to the coal storage bins. It not only ensures a steady supply of coal but also offers numerous advantages such as high safety levels, high transmission efficiency, and cost savings, truly enabling the use of coal without actually seeing it. This is just a glimpse of Huayu Company’s environmental protection projects. Over the years, the company has consistently adhered to the concept of green development. From the initial stages of project planning, it set out goals such as using coal without actually seeing any coal, eliminating slag entirely, ensuring that exhaust gases are pollution-free and that wastewater is not discharged at all, as well as achieving common development between the enterprise and the local community while serving as a leader in the industry. During the implementation phase, new technologies, equipment, and processes are employed to control issues at the source. The company strictly complies with environmental impact assessment reports and related approvals, and implements end-stage treatment measures through the use of environmental protection facilities. It also uses systematic approaches, monitoring systems, and other management tools to oversee the entire process, thereby achieving a harmonious balance between safe production and environmental protection. For these efforts, it was recognized by the Jincheng City Environmental Protection Bureau as a model enterprise in the coal chemical industry. In 2019, it was awarded an A-grade rating in the green assessment for the coal chemical industry in Jincheng City, and it is currently striving to obtain the **Green A-grade Performance Enterprise status. High-quality development is inseparable from the eternal theme of safety. Aoyu Company aims to build first-class modern coal chemical projects in China. Adhering to the principles of intrinsic safety, process automation, risk minimization, and standardized management, it has established sound safety management and operational departments, and recruited and trained technical professionals as well as safety officers. The main production units are equipped with advanced control systems such as safety instrumented systems and emergency shutdown systems. The company has formulated comprehensive safety regulations and assembled a capable emergency response team. By thoroughly implementing Jinmei Group’s “1551” safety philosophy, it has developed the “11335” safety guidelines tailored to its own operational needs, thereby ensuring the stable and safe operation of its production processes. From 2018 to 2019, Huayu Company was named the most influential methanol producer in China’s petrochemical industry for two consecutive years, and it was also recognized as a company contributing to the high-quality development of the industrial sector in Jincheng City. In 2018, within less than 4 months of going into operation, the company produced 262,000 tons of methanol, generated sales revenue of 660 million yuan, and earned a profit of 33.11 million yuan. It achieved remarkable results as a large-scale chemical project, including successful safe commissioning, rapid operation commencement, and immediate financial returns in the same year. In 2019, amid a severe contraction in the market and continuous drops in product prices, Huayu Company persisted in reducing costs and improving efficiency, boldly expanded its market presence, produced 1.16 million tons of methanol, achieved sales revenue of 2.1 billion yuan, and generated profits of 30.51 million yuan. In the first half of 2020, Huayu Company successfully tested the use of Shanxi smokeless high-sulfur coal in all four of its furnaces for the first time, further enhancing the cost advantage of its products. The company continues to carry out work to eliminate system defects and optimize production processes, constantly tapping into production potential to ensure stable operation of all 4 furnaces. The key operational indicators meet or exceed the design values, and as the entire methanol production system is improved and optimized, manufacturing costs have declined significantly year by year. From March to June, the company’s manufacturing cost per ton dropped to 1,118 yuan, demonstrating through practice that smokeless, high-sulfur coal can indeed be used as a raw material, thus opening up a new path for the clean and efficient utilization of such coal.
