On the morning of August 31, a meeting aimed at advancing post-disaster recovery and reconstruction efforts as well as implementing the “Six Stabilities” policy was held in Bengbu; this meeting also served as the kickoff event for the second phase of COFCO’s project for producing 300,000 tons of fuel ethanol per year. 30 projects with an investment of over 1 billion yuan each will start construction simultaneously, bringing a total investment of 14.77 billion yuan; 4.96 billion yuan is planned to be invested in 2020. Among the projects that commenced construction in August, there were 9 major projects with a total investment of over 500 million yuan. These included the Guzhen County Urban-Rural Water Supply Integration and Flood/ Drought Prevention Water Resources Improvement Project, with a total investment of 3.01 billion yuan; the Shanghai (Bengbu) Microelectronics Technology Park project in the Economic Development Zone, with an investment of 1.98 billion yuan; the COFCO’s second-phase project in HuaiShang District for the production of 300,000 tons of fuel ethanol per year, with an investment of 1.51 billion yuan; and the Xinxing Expansion Housing Project in Huaiyuan County, with an investment of 1 billion yuan. The second phase of COFCO’s project for producing 300,000 tons of fuel ethanol per year will be shut down and relocated in Yuhui District by the end of 2020, in line with the city’s overall policy of moving businesses out of urban areas and into industrial parks. Taking advantage of the opportunity posed by the delisting and re-entry into the park, the company upgraded its ethanol fuel production line to establish itself as a first-class producer of fuel ethanol. The second phase of COFCO’s project for producing 300,000 tons of fuel ethanol per year has a total construction area of 310,000 square meters; it involves the relocation and upgrading of the fuel ethanol production facilities as well as the associated auxiliary systems. Upon completion, the project will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of fuel ethanol.
