The main framework of the first building in the ethylene glycol production facility, part of Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Company’s demonstration project for the utilization of coal in various ways to produce new chemical materials, was successfully completed. On August 31st, the main framework of the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol production facility, which is part of the first phase of this demonstration project, was completed, marking the entry into the final stage of construction for all the facilities involved in this project. This also indicates that the installation work for the gasification unit is about to begin. It is reported that the main framework has four floors in total, with a height of over 30 meters and a total concrete volume of 2,300 cubic meters. The gasification project team of Tianchen Company’s Shaanxi Coal Yuhua ethylene glycol project carried out meticulous organization and coordination. During the construction process, management personnel strengthened supervision of various work steps, kept a close eye on safety measures throughout the entire process, and ensured that all safety protection facilities were properly installed, so as to guarantee that the project was completed safely, to high quality, and on schedule. The 1.8 million-ton ethylene glycol gasification unit in Phase 1 of the Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical’s project for the selective utilization of coal to produce new chemical materials was constructed under EPC contract by Tianchen Engineering Company. It employs the Corin CCG top-mounted multi-nozzle dry powder coal gasification technology, and is capable of producing over 700,000 standard cubic meters of syngas per hour – making it the largest Corin dry powder coal gasification demonstration plant in the world at present. On April 3, 2020, Tianchen signed an EPC general contract for the 1.8 million-ton ethylene glycol gasification unit of Phase 1 of the \"Demonstration Project for the Utilization of Coal at Different Quality Levels to Produce New Chemical Materials\" with Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Company; the total value of the contract was 1.523 billion yuan. From August 24 to 28, a review meeting for the detailed design of the gasification unit for the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol production facility in Phase 1 of the demonstration project on the utilization of coal at different grades to produce new chemical materials by Yulin Chemical Company of Shaanxi Coal Group was held at China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. Relevant departments from Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Company, technical staff from Collin Future Energy Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. attended the meeting. During the review meeting, the relevant technical personnel conducted a thorough examination of the detailed design documents related to the gasification unit’s processes, equipment, instruments, and electrical systems, as well as of the issues that needed to be resolved during the review of the 90% 3D models. At the same time, the design aspects such as the technology of the complete set of supplied equipment, the equipment itself, instruments, pipelines, control systems, and the layout of electrical instrument trays were carefully discussed. Upon review, the content and depth of the design documents for the gasification unit meet the requirements specified in the \"Regulations on the Detailed Engineering Design Content for Petrochemical Units\" (SPMP-STD-EM2005-2016). The review was successful, marking the entry of the gasification unit’s design work into its final stages and laying a solid foundation for on-site construction and commissioning. The Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Company’s demonstration project for the utilization of coal at different quality levels to produce new chemical materials is currently the largest coal chemical project under construction in the world. The project covers an area of approximately 13 square kilometers, with a total planned investment of around 126.2 billion yuan. It is capable of processing about 24 million tons of coal per year. The project includes 27 processing units along with associated utility systems, covering processes such as medium- and low-temperature pyrolysis of 15 million tons of coal, production of 5.6 million tons of methanol, 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol, 2 million tons of olefins, as well as downstream products derived from these raw materials. Among them, the first phase of Project Phase 1, which involves an ethylene glycol production capacity of 1.8 million tons per year, covers an area of approximately 4.4 million square meters. The total investment required for this project is estimated at around 26.5 billion yuan. It is currently the largest coal-based ethylene glycol production facility under construction in the world, with completion scheduled for June 2021 ; Phase 1, Stage 2 involves the construction of a facility capable of producing 5.6 million tons per year of methanol and 2 million tons per year of olefins, along with related processing units; construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2020 and be completed by the end of 2023. Phase II of the project focuses on coal pyrolysis and is also divided into two stages. The first stage involves an industrial demonstration facility for 1.2 million tons per year of pulverized coal pyrolysis and 500,000 tons per year of advanced processing of coal tar; mechanical completion is scheduled for June 2021 ; In the second phase, the scale of pyrolysis will be increased to 15 million tons, and the coal tar industry chain will be expanded to produce aromatic hydrocarbons as well as downstream products derived from arylenes. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2022, with all construction work to be completed by the end of 2025. “The target date of 21630” is June 30, 2021 – by which time the first phase of Project Phase 1, involving an ethylene glycol production facility with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year, as well as the first phase of Project Phase 2, comprising a coal pyrolysis facility with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year and a pilot plant for the advanced processing of coal tar with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year, will all be mechanically completed.
