On April 29, 2021, the foundation for the first large-scale LNG storage tank as part of Chifeng Zhongji New Energy’s project to produce 240,000 tons of liquid ammonia, 170,000 tons of LNG, and utilize coke oven gas was successfully completed. The LNG full-volume tank has a diameter of 45 meters; its foundation raft is 1.1 meters thick. There are 139 foundation columns, including 25 large columns and 114 small columns, each with a length of 4 meters. The top slab is 1.05 meters thick and weighs 4,000 tons; it was poured using C40 P12 F300 concrete. Chifeng Zhongji New Energy Co., Ltd. uses the remaining coke oven gas from the Defeng 3-million-ton coking project as raw material, and employs a combined process of compression, pretreatment, shift reaction, PDS tannin desulfurization, advanced desulfurization, MDEA decarburization, cryogenic liquefaction, and ammonia synthesis to produce 170,000 tons of LNG and 240,000 tons of liquid ammonia per year. In January 2020, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Chifeng Zhongji Coke Oven Gas Comprehensive Utilization Project, undertaken by Sinochem Ninth Construction Xinjiang Branch, was held at the construction site; during this ceremony, the construction of the 20,000 cubic meter LNG tank began.
