Large-scale equipment for coal-to-ethylene glycol production at the Guangxi Gasification Island has arrived and been installed. Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemical Industry. Date: June 12, 2020. Clicks: 2. At 16:00 on June 6, amid a light rain in Qinzhou, Guangxi, the second esterification tower was carefully placed horizontally on 4 support pillars that are 1.65 meters high, by a dump truck, at the site of the ethylene glycol production facility owned by Guangxi Hua Yi Industrial Gases, which was constructed under the EPC contract provided by Donghua Technology. △The second esterification tower has arrived at the site. The team members working on the Donghua Technology project were already prepared in advance and immediately got to work. The procurement team organized a joint inspection by all relevant parties, and after that, the construction team rushed to get the work done in order to equip this equipment as soon as possible, so as to make room for the subsequent towers to be installed. There are two esterification towers in total, with a diameter of 6.6 meters and a height of 55 meters; their net weight is over 200 tons, making them the largest towers in this facility. The first esterification tower arrived at the project site on June 4, and its accessories are currently being installed. △The No. 1 hydrogenation reactor has been installed in place. It is reported that there are 38 large-scale installation devices in this facility, and so far the delivery and installation of 21 such large devices, including the two hydrogenation reactors which are the heaviest individually (each weighing around 300 tons), have been completed on schedule, laying the foundation for the mechanical completion of this facility by the end of the year. The Huayi Qinzhou Chemical New Materials Integration Base is located in the Qinzhou Petrochemical Industrial Park, covering an area of about 8,000 mu, and will be developed in three phases. Among them, the first-phase industrial gas island project has a total investment of around 14.3 billion yuan; it is part of the coal chemical industry chain. Construction began in November 2017, with the aim of producing industrial gases such as hydrogen, syngas, and nitrogen for use by enterprises within the park, as well as chemical products like methanol, ethylene glycol, and acetic acid. Completion and operation of this project are expected by 2020. The second-phase light hydrocarbon comprehensive utilization project has a total investment of around 20.8 billion yuan. The project focuses on ethane cracking and propane dehydrogenation as its core processes, and it will produce products such as polyethylene, ethylene glycol, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), acrylic acids and esters, polyether polyols, caustic soda, and polyvinyl chloride. Construction is expected to begin in 2019. The main plant area of the project is located in plots 25 and 26 in the Qinzhou Petrochemical Industrial Park, to the south of it. The third-phase methanol-to-olefins and downstream processing project has a total investment of around 18.3 billion yuan; it will produce products such as polypropylene, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate, caustic soda, and polyvinyl chloride, with construction set to begin in 2025.
