Meijin Energy’s project for producing 20,000 tons of high-purity hydrogen per year has been officially put into operation! The main venue of the province is located in the Jinzhong Development Zone of the Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Area, with sub-venues set up in various cities. There are 27 projects coming online in Jinzhong City this time, with a total investment of 2.52 billion yuan; the annual output value is expected to reach 2.66 billion yuan. Within just a few dozen minutes, the leadership team of the municipal party committee gained a clearer understanding of Meijin Group’s integrated industrial chain covering coal, coking, gas production, and hydrogen generation, as well as the importance of Meijin Group’s high-purity hydrogen project within this industrial framework. Secretary Luo and his entourage used the big data platform to view real-time data on hydrogen energy production, storage, transportation, and safety monitoring for refueling, listened to an introduction to the layout of the enterprise’s upstream and downstream supply chains, and took a ride in a hydrogen-powered vehicle out of interest. They asked detailed questions about its performance, operating costs, and environmental emissions, giving high praise to Meijin for overcoming the key technical challenges in hydrogen energy development. Following the observation session, an inauguration ceremony was held at the site of Shanxi Meijin Hydrogen Energy Development Co., Ltd.’s project for producing 20,000 tons of industrially high-purity hydrogen per year. This commissioning marks another milestone and demonstration of progress, following the commissioning of Meijin’s hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle project in October 2020. The project for producing 20,000 tons of industrially high-purity hydrogen per year is a key initiative for Shanxi Meijin Huasheng Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd. It is one of the supporting projects within the Qingxu Fine Chemicals Industrial Park carried out by Meijin Huasheng Chemical. The coke oven gas required for this project comes from upstream coking units; taking advantage of the high hydrogen content in this by-product gas, high-end chemicals are produced. The 99.9% hydrogen derived from Shanxi Meijin Huasheng Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd.’s 300,000-ton per year ethylene glycol production facility is purified to meet the standards of industrially high-purity hydrogen using pressure swing adsorption equipment, so that this hydrogen can be supplied to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and other related applications. Once Phase 1 is put into full operation, it will be able to produce 1,570 tons of high-purity hydrogen per year, sufficient to supply 400 buses, 570 logistics vehicles, or 170 heavy trucks. In recent years, Meijin Energy has rapidly established a complete hydrogen industry ecosystem by focusing on the development of hydrogen production facilities, hydrogen storage and transportation systems, hydrogen refueling stations, distributed fuel cell power systems, fuel cell-powered vehicles, freight logistics platforms, and research and development centers. The commissioning of this first-phase project with a capacity of 2,000 Nm3/h for industrial high-purity hydrogen marks another significant advancement by Meijin Energy in the hydrogen production segment of the hydrogen industry chain. This project will also play an important role in promoting the high-quality and rapid development of Shanxi Province. Over the past two years, Shanxi Province has developed a healthy ecosystem characterized by \"signing contracts for some projects, starting construction on others, and bringing them online.\" This ecosystem provides tremendous momentum for the transformation and development of various industries within the province.
