Shanxi Petroleum Branch and Shanxi Meijin Energy Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement at Meijin Huasheng High-Purity Hydrogen Plant in Qingxu County. Wu Jinsong, Party Secretary of the Shanxi Petroleum Branch of Sinopec Sales Co., Ltd.; Deng Hongping, Chief Accountant and Party Committee member; Yang Liqing, Deputy Chief Economist and Manager of the Operations Management Department; Wang Rongqing, Manager of the Retail Center; Xue Shu, Deputy Manager of the Development Planning Department ； Leaders such as Yao Junjie, President of Meijin Group; Yao Jinlong, Chairman of Meijin Energy; Yao Junqing, General Manager of Meijin Energy; Yao Jincheng, Vice President of Meijin Group; and He Wen, General Manager of Huyuan Jiachuang, attended the signing ceremony. Next, the two parties will primarily cooperate in the field of hydrogen energy utilization, including but not limited to hydrogen production, storage, refueling, and hydrogen transportation. The two parties will take the renovation projects of gas stations under Sinopec’s Shanxi branch, as well as the construction of new hydrogen refueling stations or oil-hydrogen integrated stations in Shanxi, as starting points for their cooperation. They will provide supporting services for demonstration lines of hydrogen-powered vehicles used in commercial logistics and public transportation systems. By taking advantage of opportunities such as the comprehensive reforms related to the energy revolution and the establishment of a green energy supply system outlined in Shanxi’s 14th Five-Year Plan, they will leverage their respective resources and technical strengths to develop projects for the comprehensive utilization of hydrogen energy. The cooperation project between Sinopec Shanxi Branch and Meijin Energy is based on the jointly selected new land sites, as well as Sinopec Shanxi Branch’s existing gas stations and reserved plots. In line with the development of various application scenarios, and following the principle of developing one station once it is ready for use, the goal is to build 30 hydrogen-refueling stations in Shanxi Province by 2025 – 10 of these in the Taiyuan area, and 20 in cities such as Jinzhong, Changzhi, and Datong. In February this year, Sinopec officially announced that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period it would accelerate the development of new energy businesses centered on hydrogen energy. It aims to promote rapid growth across the entire hydrogen industry chain in the areas of hydrogen-powered transportation and hydrogen-based refining, with plans to build 1,000 hydrogen refueling stations or stations that combine hydrogen refueling with oil services, as well as 7,000 distributed photovoltaic power generation sites ； At the end of 2020, Meijin Energy announced its plan to build 100 hydrogen refueling stations (including integrated energy stations that provide hydrogen, oil, gasoline, and electricity) over the next 3–5 years. To date, it has already built 8 such refueling stations, and has gained valuable experience as well as relevant resources in the construction and operation of hydrogen refueling stations. On the day of the signing, Secretary Wu Jinsong and his entourage visited the Meijin Huasheng high-purity hydrogen factory on site. The person in charge of the project provided an overview of the Meijin high-purity hydrogen project, as well as information on the PSA equipment and compressor rooms, the various hydrogen-powered vehicle products developed by Feichi Technology, and products and technologies such as fuel cell stacks and membrane electrodes ； After the visit, Secretary Wu expressed high praise for Meijin’s comprehensive layout in the hydrogen energy industry chain. In addition to the intention to cooperate on building hydrogen refueling stations, the two parties also discussed in detail various other possibilities for collaboration during the meeting. The partnership between Sinopec’s Shanxi branch and Meijin Energy once again opens up new possibilities for collaboration between state-owned enterprises and private companies in terms of innovation and integration, leading to further progress in industrial integration. It is believed that more effective integration approaches and models will be developed in the future as well.
