Sifahua Jian wins bid for 300,000-ton/year methanol production from coke oven gas and 100,000-ton/year liquid ammonia project in Xuzhou Author/Source: Gasification World Date: 2021-08-18 Clicks: 26 Recently, China National Chemical Engineering Corporation No. 10 Construction Co., Ltd. won the bid for the 300,000-ton/year methanol production from coke oven gas and 100,000-ton/year liquid ammonia project undertaken by Xuzhou Longxingtai Energy Technology Co., Ltd., with a bid amount of 280 million yuan. The project is located in the Pizhou Economic Development Zone of Xuzhou City, and it represents the largest methanol production project using coke oven gas in China at present (the designed annual production capacity of the methanol plant is 400,000 tons). The main scope of the company’s contracts includes the EPC general contracting within the preliminary design phase for projects involving the production of methanol from 300,000 tons per year of coke oven gas and liquid ammonia at a rate of 100,000 tons per year; coordination with commissioning tests and startup trials; as well as providing after-sales service. Project Overview: By integrating six companies – Xuzhou Qiangsheng Urban Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Tengda Coking Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Huayu Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Zhongtai Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Dongxing Energy Co., Ltd., and Xuzhou Longshan Coking Co., Ltd. – Longxingta possesses a coking production capacity of 5.9026 million tons per year. In the chemical industry cluster area of Pizhou Economic Development Zone, to the north and west of Yizhou Technology Co., Ltd., it is constructing a new coking production facility with an capacity of 2.6 million tons; this is the “Xuzhou Longxingta Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Project for Annual Production of 2.6 Million Tons of Coke, along with 300,000 Tons of Methanol and 100,000 Tons of Ammonia (Yizhou Technology Phase III Project).” Methanol production from 300,000 tons per year of coke oven gas: The coke oven gas is compressed, and an adsorption tower TSA is used to remove tar and naphthalene. Further desulfurization is carried out using a desulfurization tank and an iron-molybdenum converter. Through a preheating furnace and a conversion furnace, the methane in the raw gas is converted into the gases CO and H2, which are essential for synthesizing methanol. Finally, methanol synthesis and distillation are performed to obtain the methanol product. The plant is designed with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year; the actual output is 346,000 tons per year of pure methanol, along with 2,500 tons per year of fusel oils. 100,000 tons per year of synthetic ammonia is produced using the off-gases from the methanol synthesis unit as raw material. The off-gas from the methanol synthesis alcohol washing tower is subjected to hydrogen extraction using PSA; the hydrogen and nitrogen are then mixed in a ratio of 3:1 and sent to the ammonia synthesis unit. The designed capacity of the ammonia synthesis plant is 100,000 tons per year, with an actual production volume of 89,600 tons per year. On April 21, 2019, the Pizhou City Economic Development Bureau issued the \"Opinions on the Review of the Coal Substitution Plan for the third-phase technical renovation project of Yizhou Technology Co., Ltd., which aims to produce 2.6 million tons of coke per year, along with 300,000 tons of methanol and 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia.\" It was confirmed that the six companies involved together have a total coking capacity of 5.9026 million tons per year, sufficient to meet the requirement set out in the \"Notice from the Provincial ** Office on Issuing Interim Measures for the Management of Coal Substitution in coal-consuming projects in non-electric industries in Jiangsu Province\", namely a coal substitution level equal to twice the amount of coal consumed. At present, 3 coking plants, namely Xuzhou Qiangsheng Urban Gas Co., Ltd., Xuzhou Tengda Coking Co., Ltd., and Xuzhou Huayu Gas Co., Ltd., have been shut down, while the remaining 3 will be shut down in June 2020. In June 2019, Pizhou ** Network published the environmental impact assessment report for Xuzhou Longxingtai Energy Technology Co., Ltd.’s project to upgrade its facilities so as to produce 2.6 million tons of coke per year, along with 300,000 tons of methanol and 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia.
