China’s hydrogen energy policy framework is gradually taking shape. Author/Source: Sinochem New Network. Date: July 1, 2022. Clicks: 6. On June 29, at the sub-forum on dual-carbon goals and hydrogen energy development held as part of the 2022 Petrochemical Industry Development Conference, experts present discussed the prospects for hydrogen energy development in the petrochemical industry within the context of the dual-carbon goals. The meeting held that the development of hydrogen energy is progressing steadily, and policy frameworks are also being established. Although challenges exist in its development, hydrogen energy has already become an important part of the future petrochemical industry. **Fu Guanyun, an associate researcher at the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, pointed out that the medium- to long-term development plan for the hydrogen energy industry released in March this year represents a significant milestone in the development of this industry. Today, the importance of hydrogen energy is becoming increasingly evident; it has become an essential component of future industries. China’s policy framework for the development of hydrogen energy is gradually taking shape. Bao Wei, secretary-general of the Hydrogen Energy Standardization Technical Committee, said that this year efforts will be accelerated to improve the policies and institutional frameworks for the development of hydrogen energy, to establish a standard system for the hydrogen energy industry, and to enhance the standards related to the production, storage, transportation, and use of hydrogen. This includes developing basic standards for hydrogen quality and safety, as well as standards for hydrogen production facilities, hydrogen storage and transportation systems, and hydrogen refueling stations. At the same time, the focus of hydrogen energy standardization trends in our country is placed on areas such as basic standards, hydrogen production, efficient hydrogen storage and transportation, multi-application scenarios for hydrogen energy, and hydrogen safety. “With the development of the hydrogen energy industry, it is urgent to establish regulatory standards for carbon reduction in hydrogen production from fossil fuels. ”Zhou Hongchun, former second-level inspector and researcher at the Department of Social Development Research of the State Council’s Development Research Center, as well as a recipient of the State Council’s special allowance, shared his views. As an important component of the future petrochemical industry, the development of hydrogen energy is also a key aspect in helping the industry achieve its \"dual carbon\" goals. Yang Jianhai, head of the Standards Department of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, said that this year the federation has established a standardization working group for carbon peak and carbon neutrality in the petroleum and chemical industry. A three-year action plan for building a comprehensive standard system for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality in the petroleum and chemical industries has been formulated.
