Progress on the Construction of Yushen 500,000 tons/year Coal-based Ethanol Project by Yanchang Petroleum / Author/Source: Energy Knowledge Database / Date: 2022-04-02 / Clicks: 18 On March 30, the individual testing of the circulating water pump in the first circulating water system of Yanchang Petroleum’s Yushen 500,000 tons/year coal-based ethanol project was completed, five days ahead of the original schedule. It is reported that the first circulating water plant is a closed-loop cooling tower used to supply qualified circulating cooling water to the air separation unit. This tower features a six-tank structure, with a designed capacity of 7,000 m3/h; each individual tower has a capacity of 1,166 m3/h, and there are a total of 6 fans installed. There are 5 side filtration units; the external circulation system is equipped with 12 spray pumps, 4 circulation water pumps, 3 chemical dosing systems, 1 pressure stabilization system, and 2 high-pressure cleaning units. The individual trial run of the circulating water pump has been completed, providing a solid guarantee for the smooth startup of the air separation unit and laying a firm foundation for the on-time completion of the ethanol project. On March 29, 2022, the Utility Workshop successfully completed the process of filling the liquid nitrogen vacuum storage tank with liquid nitrogen, as well as supplying nitrogen through a pipeline system at a pressure of 0.7 MPa. It is reported that before carrying out this gas supply operation, the Utility Engineering Workshop organized technical personnel to eliminate the remaining tasks from the \"three inspections and four confirmations\" process, conducting further inspections and verifications of each storage tank and each pipeline network. During the gas supply process, the technical personnel of the air separation unit strictly followed the plan for putting the vacuum storage tank into use for gas supply; they cooled the tank using air cooling and liquid cooling methods as per the established procedures, and successfully completed the liquid filling operation. This marked the official commissioning of the liquid nitrogen vacuum storage tank system. It provides a strong guarantee for the future unloading of cryogenic liquids and gas supply through pipelines, and also lays a solid foundation for the replacement of natural gas pipelines and the successful ignition of boilers. The 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project of Yanchang Petroleum in Yushen utilizes the dimethyl ether carbonylation technology for ethanol production, which was developed jointly by Yanchang Petroleum and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to produce 500,000 tons of ethanol annually. The project requires an investment of 6.98 billion yuan and is located in the South Area of Qingshui Industrial Park, Yushen Industrial Park, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, covering an area of 1,365 mu. Construction of this project officially began on November 6, 2018, with the goal of reaching full capacity and meeting relevant standards by 2022.
