Inner Mongolia Jushi Energy Co., Ltd.’s 200,000 tons/year cobalt-based FTO synthesis plant was brought online in one go/Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Forum Date: 2020-02-03 Clicks: 86 On January 31, the 200,000 tons/year cobalt-based FTO synthesis plant, which was constructed under the general contract of Sanju Environmental Protection, was brought online in one go, achieving full operational capability across the entire process. The 200,000 tons per year FTO synthetic wax project of Inner Mongolia Jushi Energy Co., Ltd. completed the entire production process on January 21, 2020, and officially began producing crude heavy synthetic oil (wax component) and crude light synthetic oil on January 31; at present, the plant is operating safely and stably. Since the onset of winter, temperatures in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia, have dropped below minus 15 degrees. Engineering and technical personnel have overcome the challenges posed by driving in winter, braving wind and snow to make active preparations. The project team mobilized fully and organized meticulously, striving to overcome the disruptions caused by the Spring Festival holiday and the severe pandemic. All work units and positions remained on duty around the clock, ready to ensure the smooth commissioning of the facility as well as its safe and stable operation. During the commissioning of the plant, the operators strictly follow the design requirements by continuously adjusting the process operation parameters of various units, to ensure that the plant reaches its optimal operating condition as soon as possible. Resolving the entire FTO synthesis process as soon as possible is key to the smooth operation of the entire system. The project team adopted a plan to start up the reactors one by one using synthetic reactors; on January 21, Reactor No. 1 was successfully brought online and began producing Fischer-Tropsch products. After parameter optimization, all parameters of this reactor have fully met the design requirements. Meanwhile, Reactor No. 2 is undergoing activation reduction and parameter optimization; it is expected to be integrated into the reaction system within the next week, allowing both reactors to operate simultaneously and gradually increasing the operating load of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis unit as well as the entire plant. Previously, the supporting systems such as the air separation unit, gas generation unit, purification unit, and wax molding unit had all been successfully commissioned, with all units operating smoothly.
