Clicks: 22. On May 17, after 37 days of intensive work, the land-leveling phase of the Sinopec Guizhou Energy Chemicals Zhijin 500,000 tons/year PGA project was completed with the construction of box culverts to redirect water streams. There are a total of 12 sections in the box culvert, with a length of 144m and a width of 8.2m. The total amount of concrete used is approximately 4300 m3, while the amount of steel reinforcement required is about 210 tons. Upon completion, **the flood control and drainage capabilities within the site grading work were enhanced, providing a solid guarantee for safe and smooth construction during the upcoming rainy season. On May 18, the fieldwork for the geological survey of the plant area of Sinopec Guizhou Energy Chemicals’ PGA project was completed. The geological survey project for the area in front of the PGA plant includes a preliminary survey of that area as well as a detailed survey of its slopes. A total of 217 boreholes were drilled, with a total drilling depth of 7206.39 meters. Next, a survey report will be issued to provide a design basis for the design and construction of the site leveling in the front area of the plant. Sinopec Guizhou Energy Chemical Company was established jointly by Great Wall Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. (with a 99% stake) and Bijie Zhijin New Area Biyun Construction Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (with a 1% stake). The 500,000-ton/year polyglycolic acid (PGA) project is a key project in Guizhou Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan for Development, as well as a demonstration project by Sinopec aimed at advancing cutting-edge coal chemical technologies towards industrialization. It is located in the New Energy and Chemical Industry Base in Zhijin County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. The total investment for the project is approximately 23 billion yuan, of which the investment for the first phase is about 11 billion yuan, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of polyglycolic acid; the second phase is planned to have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons. In accordance with the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on Comprehensively Promoting High-Quality Development signed between Sinopec and Guizhou Province, the feasibility study report for the first phase of Guizhou’s 500,000 tons per year polyglycolic acid (PGA) production project was approved by the group company on June 21, 2021, enabling the rapid progress of the project’s construction. The main units of the project include a gasification unit, a deep cryogenic separation and hydrogen production unit, a coupling unit, a PGA unit, and supporting facilities. The main product is PGA, with by-products including sulfur, polyols, dimethyl carbonate, etc. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2024, with annual sales revenue of around 3.2 billion yuan and annual profits of around 850 million yuan. Sinopec Shanghai Engineering serves as the overall project institute.
