On June 16, a video conference for the PDP Kick-off Meeting marked the start of Covestro’s MDI Phase II nitric acid plant project. After 127 days, 4 rounds of bidding submissions, 30 written clarifications, 43 hours of video-based clarification meetings and negotiations, 98 Covestro standards, and 113 technical and managerial clarification documents from Saiding, Saiding’s nitric acid team, with its spirit of remaining strong despite numerous challenges, ultimately won the approval of the client. Covestro is one of the world’s largest polymer producers. It was formerly part of Bayer MaterialScience in Germany and went public independently in 2015. Its business focuses on the production of high-tech polymer materials, as well as the development of innovative solutions for various areas of everyday life. The successful cooperation between Covestro and Saiding in the second-phase nitric acid plant for MDI represents the first time since Covestro’s establishment that domestic proprietary technology has been utilized, once again demonstrating that Saiding’s nitric acid technology has reached international advanced levels. The construction site for this project is located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, and it will be built using the turnkey EPC model, with an expected completion date of February 2026.
