On October 31, the R&D Center of Pu Jie Energy Chemicals Company was formally established. The construction of Pujie Nenghua Company’s R&D center requires a total investment of 55 million yuan and covers an area of 3,600 square meters. Aiming to advance the industrial application of technology, and guided by the principles of \"customization, diversification, and high-end quality\" for its products, the center operates on the basis of concepts related to product development, technology research, production and operation, as well as market services. It seeks to overcome technical challenges and strengthen its competitive advantages. Building on the company’s existing mature production processes for 300,000 tons per year of Unipol polyethylene and 400,000 tons per year of Basell’s Spherilene II polypropylene, it produces high-value, market-demanding high-end polyolefin products through cooperation and independent research and development, as well as via online and offline modification methods. As a product development project aimed at independent innovation, it plays a vital role in driving technological progress and facilitating the transformation and upgrading of Pu Jieneng Chemical Company. The R&D center of Pujie Nenghua Company consists of a R&D laboratory and an R&D factory. The R&D laboratory is equipped with 76 analytical instruments and sample preparation devices, including melt flow rate meters, tensile testing machines, xenon arc aging testers, xylene solubility testers, DSC differential scanning calorimeters, X-ray fluorescence analyzers, etc., which are sufficient for preparing samples and conducting tests required on a daily basis by the R&D factory. The R&D factory is planned to have four multi-purpose production lines, enabling the simultaneous development and production of different products to fully meet the diverse needs of the market. The first twin-screw extrusion granulation line, with a designed production capacity of 8,000 tons per year and an annual output value of 120 million yuan, began trial production in October 2022. “At present, we have decided to collaborate on the development of specialized modified polypropylene materials suitable for use in food-contact applications. The experimental research phase has been completed, and work is currently underway to improve the formulations and optimize the properties. Once trial production is successful, these modified polypropylene products will be able to replace polystyrene in coal chemical products, holding significant importance as they fill a gap in the industry. ”Xie Botao, the company’s deputy general manager, explained. In recent years, Pu Jieneng Chemical Company has aimed for high-quality development by striving for excellence. It has adhered to a green and low-carbon development path based on technological advancement and transformation, vigorously implemented an innovation-driven development strategy, increased investment in research and development, seen continuous innovation in product grades, steady improvements in quality, growing economic benefits, as well as enhanced influence and brand competitiveness in the industry. In October, the company was recognized as a provincial-level enterprise technology center and the key enterprise in Shaanxi Province’s coal-to-olefins (aromatics) industrial chain, serving as the leader of this chain. The inauguration of this R&D center represents an \"important step\" taken by Pu Jie Energy & Chemicals in its pursuit of long-term development and a high-quality future. Going forward, the R&D center will focus on the polyolefin industry chain, working on the development of high-performance, high-value-added modified polyolefin products. It will also actively explore research and applications in four areas: food-contact materials, materials specific for use in automobiles, materials for home appliances, and engineering plastics, thereby creating a unique portfolio of polyolefin products for Pu Jie Energy & Chemicals. The goal is to establish this center as a hub for technological innovation and new material development within the Shaanxi Coal Group.
