The vacuum buffer tank in the tar distillation system is made of Q345R material; after being in use for some time, corrosion occurs and the wall thickness of the tank decreases. I would like to ask what materials can be used as alternatives for such vacuum tanks? Can lining equipment be used?
You can consider using materials with better corrosion resistance to replace Q345R, such as stainless steel (e.g., 304 or 316 grades), which offers strong resistance to most chemicals and corrosive environments. If cost is a concern, considering adding a corrosion-resistant lining inside the existing Q345R tanks, such as a polyethylene or rubber lining, could improve the tanks’ corrosion resistance while avoiding the high costs associated with replacing the entire tank. .
For lining equipment, temperature issues must be considered. How about using composite panels?
Cost is a secondary concern; the main consideration is corrosion resistance, which is why stainless steel is used. During the production process, condensation forms inside the vacuum tank, and the composition of this condensation is unknown, raising concerns about the formation of acidic corrosive substances. It causes more severe corrosion of stainless steel.
