Huisen Engineering delivers 600,000 tons/year MTO and 100,000 tons/year butadiene EPC project to high standards. On May 8, the handover ceremony for the 600,000 tons/year MTO project and the 100,000 tons/year butadiene production facility – part of the methanol-to-olefins and related products optimization project undertaken under Huisen Engineering’s EPC contract by Nanjing Chengzhi Yongqing Energy Technology Co., Ltd. („Chengzhi Yongqing“) – was held at the project site in the Nanjing Chemical Industry Park. The combined unit passed the owner’s inspection with high standards and quality, achieving the goals of \"zero accidents, zero pollution, and zero complaints\". The 600,000 tons/year MTO plant adopts a combined technology approach that utilizes Honeywell UOP reaction technology and Hyosung Engineering’s olefin separation technology ; The core of Huisheng’s olefin separation technology is the “pre-cutting + oil absorption” method, which represents a leading technology for MTO olefin separation; this facility marks the 11th successful commercial application of this technology. The 100,000 tons per year butadiene plant makes full use of the butylene oxidation dehydrogenation technology independently developed by Huisheng, marking the first large-scale commercial application of this technology. At the same time, this project marks Huisheng’s first implementation of a combined technology route for MTO and butadiene, which is the optimal route for MTO. From the signing of the EPC general contract on October 31, 2017, to the commencement of on-site construction on November 5, 2017, followed by the start of installation work on April 18, 2018, and the important milestone of lifting heavy components on May 25, 2018, until today’s high-standard delivery, a total of 18 months have passed.
Finally, I understand why olefins are not produced from coal. 1. Nanjing Chemical Industry Park has a total coal volume control. 2. The profitability of coal-based olefins is not necessarily higher than that of methanol-based olefins.
