Recently, the Ecology and Environment Bureau of the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base Management Committee issued a public notice regarding the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment report for Ningxia Qicheng Coal-based Materials Co., Ltd.’s integrated project for green new materials based on multi-energy integration and full-cycle utilization. Project overview: Project name: Ningxia Qicheng Coal-based Materials Co., Ltd.’s integrated project for green new materials based on multi-energy integration and full-cycle utilization; Developer: Ningxia Qicheng Coal-based Materials Co., Ltd.; Total investment: 2,090,000 million yuan; Project type: New construction. Project location: Area A of the Chemical New Materials Industry Zone in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base. Construction details: The production capacity for formaldehyde (41%) is 634,000 tons per year; the production capacity for acetic acid is 600,000 tons per year; the production capacity for dimethyl oxalate (DMO) is 1.6 million tons per year; the production capacity for polydimethyl methoxide (DMMn) is 100,000 tons per year (with the production capacities for DMM2, DMM3, and DMM4 being 20,000 tons per year, 58,000 tons per year, and 22,000 tons per year respectively). The production capacity for hydrogen is 17,300 tons per year, while 36,200 tons of sulfur are produced as a by-product. Ningxia is a major province in terms of energy resources in China, with abundant reserves of coal, oil, and natural gas. However, it is located far away from the areas where energy is consumed; compared to oil and natural gas, the transportation of coal faces significant challenges. Therefore, making full use of the comprehensive advantages of regional resources to build large-scale heavy chemical industrial bases for the production of high-value-added products, and transforming these resource advantages into technical advantages on-site, is an important measure for achieving economic restructuring, optimization, and upgrading in Ningxia. At the same time, this approach is in line with industrial policies as well as the requirements of China’s strategy for the development of the western region. Ningxia Qicheng Coal-based Materials Co., Ltd. makes full use of the comprehensive resource advantages in the region, and plans to build this project in Area A of the new chemical materials industry zone in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base. Upon completion, the products produced will mainly include formaldehyde, acetic acid, dimethyl oxalate (DMO), and polymethoxymethane (DMMn). Ningxia Qicheng Coal-based Materials Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Qicheng Holding Group Co., Ltd., and was established in January 2025.
