Latest Progress on the 500,000 tons/year Guofu Furnace Facility in Shaanxi / Author/Source: Coal Chemicals Journal / Date: 2022-03-28 / Clicks: 21 On March 24, Qianyuan Energy & Chemicals Company held a meeting to review the optimization plans for the industrial pilot plant of the Guofu Furnace for pyrolysis. In accordance with the meeting agenda, the person in charge of Qianyuan Energy Chemicals’ semi-coke production center provided a detailed report on the recent production operations of the Guofu furnace as well as the existing problems ; Beijing Guodian Futong Technology Development Co., Ltd. presented an optimization plan for the gas collection method in the dry distillation section as well as solutions to the clogging problem of the cyclone separators in that section ; The participants had in-depth discussions on solving the problems of \"material carryover at the dry distillation outlet and cyclone blockage\" in the Guofu Furnace industrial testing setup, as well as on optimization strategies, covering aspects such as equipment operation modes, internal structure, and process design, and offered their suggestions and opinions. In light of the report and the discussions, Qianyuan Energy & Chemical Company needs to work together with Beijing Guodian Futong Technology Development Co., Ltd. to analyze the reasons and optimize the solutions before shutting down the equipment. Together with the relevant departments of Yulin Chemical Company, they should conduct a thorough investigation, analyze the reasons from various perspectives, and verify the optimized solutions in multiple ways. By seizing the golden period for the coking industry, they aim to achieve successful optimization on the first attempt, ensuring that the Guofu furnace can collect experimental data and operate continuously and stably. Project Overview: On July 31, 2020, the 500,000 t/a Guofu furnace unit at Yulin Chemical Qianyuan Energy Chemical Company completed all the planned technical upgrades, with a successful first ignition. This marks substantial progress by the company in extending its industrial chain and driving its transformation and development. On February 15, 2022, the 500,000 t/a Guofu furnace unit at Yulin Chemical Qianyuan Energy Chemical Company successfully completed its process optimization, with a successful first ignition – marking substantial progress in the transformation of this technology into practical applications and its wider adoption. The Guofu Furnace industrial testing unit is currently the largest lignite carbon production facility of its kind in the country. It boasts process advantages such as high production capacity per furnace, compatibility with a wide range of material particle sizes, high quality of semi-coke, and high calorific value of the gas produced. It also features environmental benefits including dry quenching of flue gas, reuse of waste heat, and zero wastewater discharge. The promotion and application of this technology hold positive implications for the upgrading of the lignite carbon industry in Yulin City.
In order to drive the company’s transformation and upgrading, Qianyuan Energy & Chemical Company took advantage of the abundant low-grade coal resources in northern Shaanxi. Based on its own research and development efforts, it actively expanded its cooperation with external parties, adopted more mature pyrolysis technologies available in China, and successfully secured two projects: the industrial trial of Shaanxi Coal Group’s low-grade coal gas-solid heat carrier dual-circulation rapid pyrolysis technology (SM-SP) and the industrial trial of GF’s low-grade coal Guofu furnace pyrolysis technology. Wang Yuntao said that the so-called dual-circulation rapid pyrolysis technology using coal powder, gas, and solid heat carriers actually relies on the principle of catalytic cracking; it involves thoroughly mixing coal powder with heat carriers to carry out a rapid pyrolysis reaction, thereby producing coal coke, light tar, medium tar, heavy tar, and gas. The 500,000 tons per year Guofu furnace pilot project, which also makes use of pyrolysis technology, employs Guofu pyrolysis furnaces to carry out the pyrolysis reaction, removing moisture from coal. After dust and sulfur removal, it achieves efficient conversion of long-flame coal, producing products such as semi-coke, coal tar, and gas.
