The 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" in 2026: Everyone should talk about safety and know how to handle emergencies; identify and address potential risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- Process Industry News: Twelve has launched the first commercial eSAF plant in the United States, using CO2 and hydropower to produce E-Jet fuel and electron naphthalene, achieving a 90% reduction in emissions, with support from Alaska Airlines. On June 11, 2026, Twelve began commercial operations at AirPlant One in Washington state, USA. This facility is the first in the United States to produce liquid sustainable aviation fuel and electron naphthalene using captured CO2, water, and electricity from renewable sources. Company Twelve has officially launched the AirPlant One project in Moses Lake, Washington, marking the commissioning of what the company claims to be the first commercial-scale facility of its kind in the United States. This facility will use CO2, renewable energy electricity, and water to produce E-Jet sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). In addition, the plant also produces E-naphthalene, a synthetic chemical precursor used in the manufacture of plastics, packaging materials, solvents, and other industrial products. The launch event was jointly organized by Alaska Airlines and Microsoft; the two early partners provided support for the project through fuel procurement commitments and investments. AirPlant One One has begun producing aviation fuel that meets ASTM standards. This fuel can be used directly in existing aircraft, engines, and airport infrastructure, without any modifications being required. Alaska Airlines plans to use this fuel to operate regular domestic flights. Twelve Company’s technology uses a \"power-to-liquid\" process to convert captured CO2, water, and renewable energy electricity into hydrocarbon fuels. Unlike the biofuel-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) pathway that relies on agricultural raw materials, the company believes its process depends on more abundant and scalable feedstocks, thereby reducing reliance on constraints in raw material supply. According to Twelve, its E-Jet fuel can reduce lifetime carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional jet fuel. The company also highlighted the commercial advantages that airlines could gain. Since its production costs are primarily tied to long-term power contracts rather than crude oil prices, Twelve says it can offer long-term fuel agreements at fixed prices, thereby providing airlines facing fluctuations in the fuel market with greater cost predictability. AirPlant One’s second product, E-Naphtha, is designed to serve as a substitute for conventional fossil-derived naphtha. Previously, Twelve demonstrated components and consumer products made from captured carbon using this material through pilot projects with companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Procter & Gamble, and clothing brand PANGAIA. With governments and airlines around the world stepping up efforts to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the facility has now been put into operation. Due to new regulations introduced in regions such as Europe and Singapore, airlines are increasingly being required to use sustainable aviation fuels. As a result, market demand is expected to grow significantly. The success of AirPlant One demonstrates that the United States now has the feasibility of achieving commercial-scale production of “electro-to-liquid fuels”. Furthermore, as renewable energy infrastructure continues to expand, this model can be replicated in many more locations.
