In 2026, the 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" will see everyone talking about safety and everyone knowing how to handle emergencies; efforts will be made to identify and address potential risks. On June 15, the first phase of Guohua Investment’s (Hydrogen Energy Company) \"Green Port Hydrogen City\" green ammonia project was completed, and work shifted fully to the stage of joint debugging and trial operation. This marks a significant milestone in the project’s development, providing new impetus for the scaled-up growth of the energy group’s green hydrogen, ammonia, and alcohol industry. Developing the green fuel industry helps ensure energy security, reduce carbon emissions, and promote the use and adoption of new energy sources other than electricity; it represents an important direction for the development of new forms of productive capacity in the energy sector. Our country has elevated hydrogen-based green fuels to a strategic level in the construction of a new energy system. “As the **first benchmark project for hydrogen-based green fuels undertaken by the Energy Group**, the Green Ammonia Project under the “Green Port Hydrogen City” initiative establishes a zero-carbon industrial model encompassing the entire “green electricity – green hydrogen – green ammonia” value chain. It represents a major breakthrough in expanding Guoneng’s hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol industrial chain. Furthermore, it is a key implementation project aimed at fostering hydrogen energy as a new engine for economic growth, in line with the objectives outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan. As Hebei’s first 10,000-ton green ammonia project, it leverages the abundant wind and solar resources in the Bohai region of Cangzhou as well as the strategic layout for developing a green port. The first phase of the project involves constructing a facility capable of producing 50,000 tons of synthetic ammonia annually. Utilizing renewable green electricity, hydrogen is produced via an alkaline water electrolysis process; nitrogen is generated through a cryogenic nitrogen production process. Finally, green ammonia is manufactured using a multi-stable flexible synthesis process. The project will effectively address the issue of load fluctuations, enabling stable operation over long periods even when the output from wind and solar power sources varies. It also reduces energy consumption by 40% compared to traditional processes. By facilitating the local conversion of wind and solar resources and helping to overcome the challenges associated with the utilization of new energy sources, it serves as a good example for establishing pathways for large-scale hydrogen production in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and promoting the green transformation of industries in the future. To date, this project has obtained international and domestic pre-evaluation certificates for the carbon footprint of green ammonia, confirming its green attributes and low-carbon value through authoritative certification. Once the facility is put into operation, it will add scaled-up production capacity for green ammonia as well as zero-carbon applications in ship traffic, thereby accelerating the commercialization of hydrogen energy. The project relies entirely on green electricity, achieving zero carbon emissions from the source; it will provide zero-carbon raw materials for industries such as chemicals and shipping, and can effectively address the challenge of utilizing renewable energy. Once completed, the project will result in an annual reduction of over 63,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
