Help: We currently have a material that contains fluoride ions, chloride ions, sulfate ions, and ammonia ions. The corrosion problem in the tower is quite severe, and there is also an issue of salt deposits clogging the packing; I’d like to ask everyone for their experience in dealing with such issues~~~ 1) Is it possible to process the materials without water treatment? There are fluoride ions, chloride ions, and ammonia ions; when the temperature is below 150°C, ammonium salts will inevitably form. Corrosion is more severe in the absence of water, as water allows the ammonium salts to dissolve in it. HF acid can be controlled using corrosion inhibitors or neutralizing agents

OP, first of all, do you want to avoid tower blockage and corrosion issues? The corrosion issue is simple; the distillation temperature isn’t high either, so tetrafluoroethylene-based equipment can generally handle it. As for the problem of salt clogging, it is indeed difficult to resolve from a distillation process perspective, unless an alternative processing method can be used for that material.
