Hello everyone! I would like to ask how the acid mist generated in hydrochloric acid storage tanks is handled. Are there any PID diagrams available? If a spray tower is used, how often should the water contained in it be replaced? Are there any specific guidelines for this, and how can it be monitored? Thank you all!
Due to the large heat of solution of hydrochloric acid, it is 560 KJ at room temperature (35% HCl). Therefore, to remove hydrochloric acid more completely, a cooling absorber must be used, or when the solution is recycled, it must pass through a cooler before being sent to the purification equipment. For gases with high concentrations, since the content of inert gases is low, hydrochloric acid diffuses easily and is absorbed rapidly; therefore, it can be treated using simple equipment such as externally cooled wet wall towers. For gases with a lower concentration, the absorption rate decreases, and ceramic towers can be used. Hydrochloric acid mist can be neutralized using low-concentration solutions such as alkali (NaOH) or ammonia (NH3). A standard hydrochloric acid mist treatment system generally consists of a primary water absorption tower and a secondary alkali neutralization tower. The fans are located between the two secondary alkali neutralization towers, and the final alkali neutralization tower is equipped with a 15-meter-high chimney.
