I used to work in a petrochemical company, mainly responsible for equipment management. I have now joined a new organization, which is still in the process of being set up. Reforming unit: What should a newly hired engineer do? What should be noted? What I’m doing now is getting familiar with the process package, as well as reviewing the quotation documents and technical files. There is also equipment selection, but I’ve never dealt with it before and am not sure how to choose. I hope those with experience can offer some advice; I would be extremely grateful!
Sure, being serious and responsible is a prerequisite, but what about the direction and content of the work?
Your description is too general. What is your specific job role? For equipment selection, the parameters in the process package serve as a basis; it’s necessary to calculate the load on the equipment, especially for special types of equipment, and to create drawings of the equipment as well
You used to work in equipment management; have you never worked in process management? ? So you’ve switched to working in process production now? ? ?
Well~ the units I work in are PSA and naphtha hydrogenation units. Do we need to calculate the load of the equipment? Or design calculation? What is the purpose of drawing device prototypes?
I haven’t done the processing work myself, but processing equipment is inseparable from it; I come into contact with it on a regular basis.
I’ve been reviewing drawings recently, but should the review be based on past production experience? Or?
It depends on what your job focus is During the preparation phase, it is necessary to review the parameters and models of the equipment together with the design institute, as well as examine the drawings. In the intermediate stage, participation in the equipment bidding process carried out by the procurement department is required, followed by the management of equipment installation. Once construction is complete, routine maintenance of the equipment is needed.
That’s how I understand it: the patent holder provides the process design, and domestic design firms then develop detailed designs based on that process design. As the user, review the parameters of equipment, pipelines, valves, etc. in the detailed design. And participate in the equipment department’s bidding process. We haven’t reached the installation stage yet. What do we rely on when reviewing drawings? Standard? Or should it only be compared with the previous process design parameters?
The preparatory work is complex and demanding; one needs to consider things from the perspective of the entire project development process. This involves conducting thorough design discussions in the early stages, following up on the procurement of equipment and machinery later on, overseeing the on-site construction phase, as well as dealing with other related tasks and **administrative procedures. There is a great deal to take into account and think about.
