How should the pipelines be handled when a crude oil storage tank is taken out of service, and what issues need to be considered? I would appreciate advice from those with experience
Use nitrogen to push the oil in the pipeline into the storage tank; once gas is detected, drain all the oil from the pipeline. If work needs to be carried out, the pipeline should be purged with steam; if it is light oil, then nitrogen should be used for purging!
