This year, Yan’an Petrochemical Plant, in collaboration with Workshop 1, carried out technical upgrades to the 1.4 million tons per year continuous reforming unit, eliminating potential operational risks associated with the lift fans. After several months of operation, the device has shown significant results. “Increasing the compression amount by exactly 0.4 millimeters not only resolves production issues but also provides adequate assurance for the safe and stable operation of the equipment. ”Recently, workshop director Chang Tirong summarized. It is reported that the lift fan in the reverse regeneration unit of a continuous reforming unit is an important piece of equipment for catalyst regeneration. During operation, oil leakage from the mechanical seal on the oil seal side occurs frequently, requiring manual addition of lubricant to the gearbox on a regular basis. If the gearbox runs out of oil due to human error, it can cause damage to the bearings and even the fan. To completely eliminate the obstacles to catalyst regeneration, Workshop 1 conducted a thorough analysis of the current operating conditions of the unit; it disassembled and examined the mechanical seals of the fans on several occasions. It was found that high fan speeds, significant axial movement, and insufficient compression by the mechanical seals could be the reasons for the oil shortage in the gearbox. To this end, the workshop established a technical task force; through on-site measurements and repeated attempts, the team members discovered that reducing the thickness of the static ring seat of the mechanical seal could increase the compression amount of the mechanical seal. After determining the direction of the technical improvements, the technicians used turning techniques to reduce the thickness of the static ring seat, thereby adjusting the compression amount of the mechanical seal from 1.8 millimeters to 2.2 millimeters. This approach prevented oil leakage from the mechanical seal and completely eliminated the risks associated with the operation of the fan. “After more than 4 months of operation, the lift fan of the anti-reaction unit has not experienced any oil leakage. At the same time, it has reduced the consumption of spare parts such as machine seal components, low-speed shaft sleeves, sealing rings, and lubricating oil. It is estimated that annual savings in maintenance and material costs can amount to around 290,000 yuan, resulting in significant economic benefits. ”said Liu Gang, a technician from that workshop.
