Is it welded to the tower wall? In that case, it’s easier for dead zones to form. Baffle plates should be installed in areas on the tray where the liquid tends to take short circuits (such as above the main beam or near the tower walls). The height of the baffle plates should be twice the height of the overflow weir (if there is no overflow weir, it can be twice the height of the liquid layer on the tray); the thickness of the baffle plates must not be less than the thickness of the tray plates. Yes, it’s a sentence from the \"Code for Design of Petrochemical Tray Reactors\".
