Which has a greater temperature rise or drop, the inlet gas heat exchanger of the methanol synthesis tower? During the operation of the methanol synthesis plant, which has a greater temperature change – an increase in the temperature of the gas entering the methanol synthesis tower or a decrease in the temperature of the secondary feed gas? Has anyone paid attention to this issue? In a certain synthesis unit, the temperature at the primary inlet of the gas-gas heat exchanger is 50°C (the temperature at the compressor outlet is also 50°C). The temperature at the primary outlet of the gas-gas heat exchanger is 189.49°C (this corresponds to the inlet temperature of the synthesis tower). The temperature of the gas entering the heat exchanger for the second time is 229.13°C (this is the temperature at the outlet of the synthesis tower), while the temperature of the gas exiting the heat exchanger for the second time is 97.66°C. The temperature rise is 8°C higher than the temperature drop.
There are also differences among different feed gases; gas produced from coal, coke oven gas, natural gas, and acetylene off-gases all differ from each other.
It is caused by the differences in the specific heat capacities of the two fluids in the inlet and outlet heat exchangers, as well as by the heat of phase change of the outlet fluid! I’m not sure if this is appropriate?
