Experts, my company currently uses neutralized water as the process medium – a substance obtained after acid and base neutralization. This medium contains particulate impurities and crystals, and it is highly corrosive; the temperature is around 50°C. Which type of pump would be suitable for use in this situation? I have previously used centrifugal pumps made of 316 material and PTFE pumps, with impellers and mechanical seals made of stainless steel, but those didn’t work either. . Help! Thank you
What ions are present in the medium, and what are their approximate concentrations? This information helps determine which material should be chosen for use. 316 won’t work; choose 316L. If that still doesn’t work, choose CD4MCu. If that also doesn’t work, choose a fluoroplastic pump
Use a slurry pump with an open impeller; the material should be PTFE, and the wear-prone components are K-rings and shaft sleeves – this should suit your operating conditions. There’s no need to mention the manufacturers; we have several of them in our forum
Is there a lot of crystallization? You can give UHMWPE a try
Fluorinated centrifugal pump equipped with double-end mechanical seal (with flushing); the sealing surface can be made of SSIC. If there is a high amount of particulate impurities and crystalline content, a semi-open impeller can be used

316 is not resistant to corrosion, and PTFE is not wear-resistant; the FUH series of engineering plastics are recommended as they are both wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant. They have a proven track record in this area with excellent results. Feel free to reach out to me for more details
Thank you for your advice. There are some suspended particles similar to asphalt present; it’s difficult to determine their exact amount. They float on the surface of the water. Using a filter in front can result in a low flow rate, and if everything is drawn together, the seal will leak severely
Thank you for your support. I was wondering: is the seal leakage in slurry pumps with open impellers severe? Due to the presence of asphalt-containing suspended particles, the seals tend to leak easily
