Acid inlet pipe and acid return pipe on the absorption tower

This post was last edited by Zhang Ruqing on 2015-7-21 at 10:08. The acid inlet pipe on the absorption tower has a diameter of DN300, while the acid return pipe has a diameter of DN400. These pipes have been in use for 6 years, and recently there have been successive pipe ruptures; the 1.5m long pipes completely broke apart. The straight seams and flanges remained intact, with the thickness of the broken areas being around 8 mm. I’m not sure what caused this, so I hope experts can offer some guidance. Thank you!
The service life has expired; what material is it?
Acid-resistant cast iron pipes are used, for both the acid feed pipe and the acid return pipe.
Cast iron investment castings inherently have certain defects; it is recommended to use a pipe material of 304+Stainless or 316L
Are expansion joints installed in the pipeline?
Consider stress corrosion; if anodic protection is used, it is recommended to check the condition of the cathode.
