Why is the production capacity of a settler related to the settling velocity and settling area, but not to the settling height?

Based on experience, if you consider that vacuum cleaners are designed to be flat, it makes sense that this is the case; sedimentation is related only to the sedimentation rate and area, and not to height. Theoretically, it’s a trajectory of projectile motion. Think about it: particles enter a sedimentation chamber horizontally, with a flow rate of Q. Here, we assume the chamber is rectangular in shape (with length, width, and height being L, W, and H respectively); the sedimentation area is A = LW, and the sedimentation height is H. From a horizontal perspective, the time taken is t1 = AH/Q. From a vertical perspective, t2 = H/u, where u is the sedimentation velocity. Since t1 = t2, it follows that Q = AU. Therefore, the sedimentation capacity Q depends only on the sedimentation area and the sedimentation velocity, right? It has nothing to do with height~~
