Dear everyone, I have a question: our company’s ethylene oxide storage area is considered a major hazard source. Is one exit sufficient to meet the requirements? Some colleagues now say that there should be two exits; are there any relevant regulatory standards requiring this?
The ethylene oxide storage area is considered a major hazard source; therefore, having only one exit certainly does not meet the requirements. The number of safety exits required depends on the size of the storage area
According to the new version of the oil depot design codes, there must be two exits, located in different directions. 5.2.11 The design of the roads leading from the oil depot to the highway, as well as the vehicle entrances and exits, shall comply with the following requirements: There shall be no less than 2 vehicle entrances and exits from the oil depot to the external roads, and these entrances and exits should preferably be located in different directions.
