In the case of treatment using a distillation system, does it mean that after stopping the feed and evacuating the side lines of the distillation tower, steam can be used for purging right away?
Follow the principle of shutdown purging: purge the heavy oil line first, then the light oil line.

In the case of treatment using a distillation system, does it mean that after stopping the feed and evacuating the side lines of the distillation tower, steam can be used for purging right away? Generally, after cutting off the feed and evacuating the side lines of the distillation tower, steam can be used for purging to remove the oil; the valves for the oil and gas streams are closed to prevent any flow, and after all the oil has been removed, a blind flange is installed. Only then can it be purged with steam. For the oil and gas section, open the valves first for a water wash, and then purge with steam. There is a difference between the steam purging for oil removal and the steam purge line; their purposes are different, as are their requirements.
