Polymethoxymethane is a recognized additive for clean diesel, and several companies in China have already started pilot production of it. Our institute is also conducting pilot-scale research in this area. The current problem is that paraformaldehyde is a solid powder while methylal is a liquid, and the two cannot be mixed together. The original laboratory used fixed-bed reactors, but now we want to switch to slurry-bed reactors; however, it is difficult to feed the solid raw materials. I hope everyone can discuss this issue together to find a solution. It would be great if technicians from manufacturers that have already achieved successful pilot-scale operation could share some of their experience. :)

Powder transportation requires pneumatic conveying. This can solve the problem.

The time frame for obtaining a response is quite long. There are two theoretical drawbacks to using polymer and methyl acetal to synthesize DMMn: 1) The solubility of the polymer in methyl acetal is very low, resulting in poor mixing, which makes industrialization difficult; 2. There is a significant amount of water in paraformaldehyde, which acts as an inhibitor in the reaction for synthesizing DMMn. Our company uses polyoxymethylene and methyl acetal as raw materials for reactions, and by developing new synthesis processes for these substances, we have managed to significantly reduce the energy consumption of the production facilities. For formalin aqueous solution methyl acetal, catalytic distillation is the best process.
