Dear sea friends, should the ammonia scrubber be placed after the shift water cooler or after the first heat exchanger in the low-temperature methanol wash unit? Which of these two locations is better? Please explain the reason?
Please describe in detail what kind of process you use, and to what temperature is the first heat exchanger heated during the washing process? Should the methanol be sprayed after or before the first heat exchanger?
The first heat exchanger is cooled to around 10°C, with methanol sprayed after the first heat exchanger.

After replacing the water cooler, it is difficult to separate water after placing it before the first heat exchanger in the methanol washing process, resulting in a high water content in the system.
It should be placed after the transformation, before the first heat exchanger in the methanol wash unit. Reason: After the transformation, washing ammonia also allows for the removal of other impurities that are harmful to the methanol washing process, which is beneficial for it. If it is installed after the first heat exchanger in the methanol washing unit, it will not achieve the same effect as before; moreover, the operating temperature is too low after that heat exchanger, which allows moisture to enter the methanol washing system.
After the process settings in our factory were changed, it is placed before the low-suction heat exchanger; if it were placed after the low-suction heat exchanger, dirt could accumulate and clog the heat exchanger. Washing it first would be better. It also reduces cooling losses
I don’t think it should be placed after the first heat exchanger with a low temperature setting, because after the first heat exchange, the temperature of the syngas is usually already below room temperature; if it is then treated with ammonia, its temperature will rise again, resulting in a waste of cooling capacity in the system.
