Why is a negative pressure environment required inside the heating furnace? How is negative pressure created? Air is needed to aid combustion, and when it is drawn out through a chimney, negative pressure is generated.
I guess: the chimney already has an upward draft, plus the rising hot air at the chimney outlet, and the reduction in volume as the hot air cools down.
Why is a negative pressure environment required inside the heating furnace? a. Negative pressure safety: If it were positive pressure, what if a crack or something appeared somewhere? Wouldn’t the flames burst out immediately? b. It facilitates easy opening of the observation port damper at any time to observe the combustion condition. How is negative pressure created? There are two scenarios: a) negative pressure is created through the chimney ; b. Or, a induced draft fan can be installed on the flue to create negative pressure.

You can understand it on a microscopic level: when an explosion occurs, a vacuum is created around it instantly; the oxygen is consumed, which means the volume of that area shrinks drastically in an instant. To maintain overall pressure balance, a large amount of air from the outside flows into this vacuum area. When countless such instances occur one after another, a flame is formed. During the burning process, air is drawn in and rises upward along the chimney, creating a draft. This is my understanding, (*^__^*) Hehe……
