I was in Yunnan in mid-September and have just returned; I’d like to share my experiences with you all. The trip was along the Xishuangbanna route, lasting six days and five nights. A more relaxed pace was adopted, with accommodations in five-star hotels; the best one in Xishuangbanna was the Anantara, which was really good and highly recommended. What I mainly want to share with everyone is that during the last two days, we visited the World Expo Park and the Flower Market – places known among tourists from Yunnan as slaughterhouses. It was purely a shopping trip, during which we could only browse shops, and the group meals were much worse than those in the first four days. It’s not only boring but also stressful; guides rely on this to earn commissions. I don’t have much money, so I bought just a little. If everyone acted like me, the guides would definitely get angry. Fortunately, the other 30 people in our group were helpful; together they purchased more than 150,000 worth of jade, huanglongyu, Pu-erh tea, and similar items. The tour guide was satisfied, and we avoided any complaints. If anyone goes to Yunnan and doesn’t have an excessive amount of money, they should try not to fall for the attempts by tour guides to persuade them to buy things. It has to be said that some tour guides are quite good at speaking, and those who lack determination but have plenty of money might not be able to resist being persuaded into making small purchases; they will surely regret it when they return.
Spending 150,000 – that’s only something rich people would do!
I only spent a little over a thousand, hehe. The people in the group were very low-key, so I was surprised even after buying it. I was ready to get scolded by the tour guide. My sister was reprimanded for not buying a guide when she went there before.
This is a poor shopping experience. The scenery in Yunnan is actually quite nice, but the experience of buying jade there was terrible; the high price is secondary to that
I still want to travel to Yunnan by myself. . Does the original poster have any pictures?
