The concentration of concentrated sulfuric acid is 92.5%, at room temperature – can carbon steel be used for storage tanks and pipelines? Do I need to consider insulation in winter? Thank you!

With such a dilute sulfuric acid, it certainly won’t work; carbon steel can be used for 98% concentrated sulfuric acid, but not for less concentrated versions. Use PVC+FRP materials at normal temperatures; use a PTFE lining when the temperature is high. It can be used without the need for corrosion protection; insulation is required in particularly cold winter conditions. You can check the annual corrosion rate at the Corrosion Museum, and regular thickness measurements will suffice

Sulfuric acid has a high density, so less fiberglass is used
If the acid concentration and temperature remain stable, and no requirements are placed on the purity of the acid, it can be used without issue. Otherwise, stainless steel is still recommended.
