Issues related to welding operations powered by generators

In our facility, it is often necessary to carry out on-site welding tasks on the operating equipment; for example, welding to repair leaks in heating steam systems or cracks in components, as well as welding to fix detached brackets – all of these are minor welding operations. The general steps for carrying out a task are: submit a task plan – issue a work order – obtain a fire permit based on the work order – get an electricity permit using the fire permit – set up a temporary power distribution box – and carry out the work involving fire. However, the process of \"generating electricity invoices based on fire tickets – setting up temporary power distribution boxes\" takes a long time; basically, an entire morning is spent on issuing invoices, which results in low work efficiency. Slightly larger tasks may require working overtime at night or continuing work until the next day. To improve work efficiency, the contractors use diesel/gasoline generators mounted on tricycles, which allow them to carry out welding tasks directly at the construction site without having to wait for electricity to be connected, thereby significantly increasing efficiency. Here’s the question: Are gasoline generators safe? (The detector shows that the carbon monoxide level around the gasoline generator is severely excessive) Could there be an electric shock accident? (The generator is equipped only with an overload protector, not a leakage protector.) Is there any issue with the quality of the welds produced by the gasoline generator? (The current of small gasoline generators is not very stable) Are there any uncontrollable risks associated with controlling operations involving fire? (Work can be carried out after the generator is turned on; inadequate supervision may lead to uncontrolled ignition.) I invite all experts to discuss this and share their opinions and suggestions.
