There is a vertical stainless steel storage tank, about 5 meters high, with insulation already in place; I would like to add an additional temperature measurement point. Could the experts please make a hole at the back of the tank? What potential hazards might arise from having openings?
If it can be cleaned, drilling can be carried out; if there are materials present, drilling under pressure can be used
Thank you for your reply. Our facility isn’t in operation yet, but it can be cleaned. I know that it is possible to make openings in pipes while they are under pressure. Can a hole be made under pressure if the storage tank is filled?
Is it a atmospheric pressure tank? An atmospheric pressure tank can lower the material level; please have a professional company handle it
Oh, I see. It’s not yet in operation, so there are no materials involved. The tank is at atmospheric pressure, but since the required opening location is low, at 1 meter above the ground, I’m worried whether leakage might occur when the tank is filled
It’s normal to have openings in the tank walls; inspections are carried out after the welding of those openings is completed
No problem, as long as it’s not a pressure vessel, just pay attention to the welding quality. It’s difficult to get pressure vessels inspected
The opening of the temperature gauge has nothing to do with overfilling, so there’s no need to worry.
It’s not a pressure vessel, so drilling holes should be possible
