The pressure in the residue hydrogenation bed increased suddenly; attempts were made to replace the catalyst, only to find severe carbon deposition from top to bottom. What are some good pretreatment methods for residue hydrogenation feedstocks?
Try using a filter with a smaller diameter.

If coking is severe only at the reactor inlet, installing a pretreatment unit or a filter with higher precision should help. If coking occurs throughout the entire reactor, could it be that the hydrogen supply is insufficient?
