How to determine whether the liquid level is the true level or not?

If the level gauge is not functioning properly, the discharge valve can be opened or closed to see whether the liquid level fluctuates smoothly. If opening or closing the discharge valve does not cause the liquid level to move smoothly or even slightly, it indicates that the reading is an inaccurate one.
If it’s the current liquid level, the upper and lower control valves can be closed, the drain valve can be opened to see if the liquid level drops, and then the system can be put back into operation
With multiple liquid levels for comparison, there’s no good solution
For critical equipment, it is advisable to use two level gauges simultaneously, or to employ methods such as discharge or addition of fluid; in any case, some means should be used to adjust the liquid level in order to check whether the level gauge responds. If it does not respond, then the level measurement is unreliable and cannot reflect the actual level of the liquid inside the equipment. This could be due to a blockage in the level gauge’s tubing or an electrical fault in its signaling system.
Open the flange cover on the top pipe opening, insert a stick inside to take a measurement – that’s fine. Also, once the instruments have been integrated, don’t keep doubting that their readings are inaccurate.
By checking the trends of the DCS instruments, if there is no change over an extended period or if there is a sudden change at a certain point in time, it may be a problem with the secondary instruments; of course, it is also necessary to go to the site to compare them with the primary instruments.
