The valve is a standard ball valve; what sets it apart is the iron casing surrounding it, which gives it a very sturdy appearance! As for the reasons, everyone can also discuss them: lol
All 3 valves in the image have enclosures, and these enclosures are quite beautiful; it must have taken a lot of effort to create them. It’s probably taken from other projects and used directly.
Are you worried about leaks at the sealing points, or has a leak already occurred?
