On purging and displacement during industrial pipeline maintenance

As the title suggests, the gas supply is shut off before pipeline maintenance; thereafter, purging and replacement are required, and welding can only be carried out after the explosion detection tests yield satisfactory results. Our facility mainly uses branched pipelines; what should be the procedure for purging? It seems quite repetitive when we do this; for the branched piping, how should we purge it?
1. In the case of purging from the main line to the branch lines: First, purge the main line; once it becomes hot, purge each branch line in turn. Eventually, the main line will purge all the branch lines simultaneously, but care must be taken regarding the distribution of steam. 2. Case of purging from the branch lines to the main line: The branch lines can be opened one by one, but before the purging is completed, there must ultimately be a process of joint purging of all the branch lines.
What type of pipelines is steam purging used for? We generally use oil-free compressed air for purging, and the media in the pipelines are mainly oxygen, carbon dioxide, and natural gas
The purging principle is to start with the main pipe before moving on to the branch pipes, beginning with the branches that are closer to the source
