I would like to ask fellow sea professionals: When the new unit is brought online, there are fluctuations in the acid flow rate to the first and second absorption towers. The initial assumption was that the blockage was caused by the filter at the inlet of the submersible pump; however, cleaning the pump chamber manually and removing the inlet filter did not resolve the issue, so an inlet blockage was ruled out. At the same time, the reasons for low pump tank level and reverse rotation were also ruled out. Secondly, it is necessary to detect cavitation at the pump inlet; when acid is returned to the system, a vacuum can form in the high-point anti-siphon line of the acid return pipeline, allowing air to enter. To address this, a blind flange should be installed at the anti-siphon pipe. The issue of fluctuating acid flow rate during the commissioning phase has been resolved. However, after starting the sulfur dioxide blower, the pump chamber operates under negative pressure at -5 KPa, and fluctuations in flow rate occur again. Is the absorption tower in a positive pressure area? Has there been any change in the pressure drop of each tower? Is there an anti-vortex device inside the tower?
The pressure drop across each tower remains unchanged, and there are anti-vortex filters inside the towers
Is your process one tank with two towers, with one pump supplying both absorption towers?
Are there any other phenomena when the flow rate fluctuates, such as current, pressure, etc.?
Is the pump tank level measured? Is a flow meter installed on the sulfuric acid pipeline in the tower?
Is there a filtering device at the bottom of the tower, which could be considered for removal? Also, is there significant fluctuation in the current consumption of the pump?
