I encountered a design for a falling film evaporator with a forced circulation system. The examples provided by EDR and HTRI didn’t show anything special; all that was needed was to select \"falling film\" as the vaporizer type and to define a vaporization rate. The over-design value in HTRI was still negative – is the result then reliable? I wonder how this gasification rate is defined? The value in EDR is 0.2, while that in HTRI is 0.5. If I know the amount of material to be processed and design an evaporator that suits it, then for the calculations, should the flow rate of the cold-side stream be the processing volume divided by the gasification rate? Does this value also correspond to the flow rate of the forced circulation pump? Furthermore, when designing the separation chamber, it is necessary to determine the amount of liquid carried in the gas; how can this value be determined? I think the pumping volume has a great deal to do with this vaporization rate, and it also needs to meet the minimum flow rate for film formation – is that correct?
The feed rate is mixed with the medium in the forced-circulation falling film; an mixer is used in ASPEN to calculate the temperature and flow rate of the circulation pump, which then serve as the parameters for the forced-circulation feed. The inlet and outlet pressures need to take the liquid level into account
