The device is equipped with a gasoline pump that has been working fine up to now; however, it has suddenly started to shut down repeatedly. An overcurrent issue was detected, and this occurred even when the pump’s outlet was not in use – the current exceeded the limit as soon as the motor was started. What could be the cause of this? Additionally, the backup pump was started up and everything is working normally. I checked it, and turning the pump manually was very easy; there seems to be no mechanical friction, and the vibration level when the pump is running is not high either
Then we need to check the motor for any problems; don’t overlook the distribution cabinet either. We’ve encountered similar issues in our factory – the pump was fine, and by checking the motor we were able to find the cause
I agree with the view on the second floor; it is recommended to measure the resistance. If the coil gets damp or water enters it, the same situation described by the original poster will occur.
Excessive load, excessively high or unstable voltage (including uneven three-phase voltage or missing phases), faults in the motor itself, such as partial short circuits, blocked rotors, or worn shafts. It is recommended to check the impeller; its behavior differs when the machine is turned by hand and when it is rotating automatically. If there are signs of wear at the front end of the impeller, it may be due to excessive axial thrust
Disconnect the pump from the motor and examine them separately to determine whether the issue lies with the motor or the pump
If the load is not high but the current is high, then the motor needs to be checked; try turning it by disconnecting the coupling.
Check the three-phase voltage and current of the motor
First, check whether there is any internal leakage in your outlet valve; if there is no internal leakage, then verify whether the assembly clearance of your pump meets the requirements; All the checks mentioned above are fine; next, the electrical team should check whether the motor is functioning properly.
The load is too high. Pump failure, motor failure.
