Self-inspection for corporate security is an important measure for companies to fulfill their responsibilities in this area, and it is also a skill that businesses must master. However, most companies do not know how to conduct such inspections or what exactly needs to be checked, and as a result, they lack a comprehensive system for security inspections. The Rail Transit Equipment Company of China Railway Electrification Group, where the author works, attaches great importance to self-inspection for safety in its daily safety management practices, and has achieved significant results as a result. The author believes that to carry out effective self-inspections for corporate security, it is necessary to reflect the “five requirements and five characteristics”. First, emphasis must be placed on planning. Enterprises should, based on the goals and tasks for safety work throughout the year, formulate a safety inspection plan in advance, conduct safety inspections purposefully, and ensure that such inspections are carried out in a standardized manner to achieve practical results; this constitutes the foundation for effective safety inspections within an enterprise. 　　Second, it is necessary to improve effectiveness. The organizer of the safety inspection must give thorough consideration to the timing of the inspection, the participants, the methods and techniques used, the aspects to be checked, as well as the objectives to be achieved, and make comprehensive arrangements so as to have a clear understanding of everything. For the issues identified during the inspection, specific measures and plans for implementation and rectification must be developed, and progress in the rectification process must be monitored until it is completed. Enterprise leaders should participate in the inspections to raise the awareness of safety checks among their subordinate units; at the same time, it is also possible to resolve some major issues on the spot, thereby reducing delays and buck-passing. 　　Third, scientific rigor must be pursued. For the objects to be inspected, such as equipment, human behavior, and the implementation of systems, there must be relevant indicators; quantitative evaluation should be pursued as much as possible. It is required that a detailed inspection checklist be prepared for each inspection, specifying the objects to be inspected and the contents of the inspection, so that the inspection can be carried out in a targeted manner. The equipment used by inspectors must be scientific; necessary inspection and testing instruments such as gas detectors, voltage testers, and voltage measurement devices should be available. This helps to overcome inspections based on subjective assumptions, prevents mere formalities from being carried out, and ensures that decisions are based on scientific data rather than unfounded opinions. It is important to convince others with logic. 　　Fourth, comprehensiveness must be emphasized. The scope of safety inspections should be broad; inspections should be conducted not only on subordinate departments but also on various departments and sections within peer departments, ensuring coverage both horizontally and vertically” ； At the same time, inspections of each unit must be thorough without any gaps. The inspection should be comprehensive, with a focus on the implementation of relevant systems. In particular, attention should be paid to the fulfillment of safety production responsibilities by leaders at all levels, as well as the implementation of various safety regulations and rules. At the same time, it is necessary to examine employees’ mental states, safety training, and educational programs. It must be remembered that safety inspections are not merely about identifying hazards on-site; ideological hazards are even more dangerous than those physical ones. A thorough inspection covering all aspects – institutional, ideological, technical, and related to equipment and facilities – is required, without leaving any gaps unchecked. Safety inspectors must carry out thorough inspections; personnel from various departments such as equipment, safety, technology, labor relations, trade unions, and fire protection should all participate. It is necessary to overcome the mistaken notion that safety inspections are solely the responsibility of the safety department. Tasks should be defined clearly and responsibilities assigned appropriately, so as to achieve collective prevention and control and address potential risks before they arise. 　　Fifth, flexibility must be achieved. There are various forms of safety inspections, and regardless of the form adopted, it is essential to ensure their actual effectiveness. Changing from the traditional fixed patterns and achieving flexibility and diversity in the methods of conducting safety inspections is key to carrying out effective safety checks. Through cross-checking, it is possible to learn from one another and improve together ； Through surprise inspections, it is possible to gain an accurate understanding of the actual state of safety management at the grassroots level, so as to have a clear picture and take targeted actions ； Through specialized inspections, it is possible to focus on key safety aspects and carry out targeted rectifications, among other things.
