Inspection of high-pressure octagonal gasket sealing

We are currently carrying out inspections of the high-pressure sealing surfaces. I would like to ask everyone: what are the requirements for inspecting octagonal gaskets? Many carbon steel gaskets were found at the site to be severely rusted; even after polishing with fine sand, the sealing surfaces remained rough – can they still be used?
Replace it when it rusts; you know it’s under high pressure, so the grinding isn’t that precise
It can be used without causing leaks or damage to the high-pressure valves or flanges; those with minor damage can still be used after grinding
